Azad Kashmir


Neelam Valley:
                          Neelam Valley is a beautiful valley which is located in Azad Kashmir region. Approx. 200 kilometers long Neelam Valley is situated in North & North East side of Muzaffarabad. Neelam Valley running parallel to another beautiful valley which is also very attractive and breathtaking. Its name is Kaghan Valley. Neelam Valley is separated fro this valley if only snow covered peaks and in theses peaks some are 4000 meters above from the sea level. This valley has excellent scenic beauty, lush green forests; huge towering hills on both sides of the Neelam River which is very noisy and panoramic view make the valley more colorful and beautiful.
This valley is ideal for tourists and visitors. It  is also perfect for tracking. A fair weather track and road opens the visitors and tourists up to kel, approximately 155 km from Muzaffarabad and about 150 kilometers of which has been blacked topped. While the remaining area is being metalled. If talk about transport, buses and other mode of transport are provided to the tourists in very cheap rates  and accommodation facilities are also available in the hotels and rest houses of places of tourists and visitors attraction.
Cooking facilities are also given there but people have to make their own arrangements for their special dishes.
On a number of places of the Valley, rope crossings has been built by the local population which is very dangerous device .According to local population’ thought, this rope crossing is horrible but thrilling. This valley has a breathtaking green spot name Sharda which is 1981 meter high. Overlooking the valley, Shardi and Nardi are two main peaks. Shardi named reputedly after legendary princess Sharda. It ha a captivating and beautiful landscape with numerous hills-sides and springs covered with huge trees. On the right side, opposite to Sharda, the Neelam valley is joined with the Surgan Nallah along a track of which leads to Nurinar Pass and through it to the Valley name Kaghan Valley.
In Sharda, an old Buddhist University’ ruins can also found. There is another attractive and picturesque place in the Neelam Valley which is a small village and situated at a height of approximately 2097 meter. At this place Shounter Nallah joins Neelam River which leads to Gilgit Agency Pakistan’ Northern areas at height of 4420 meter over the Shandur.
Neelam has had a great and valuable importance after and before the partition of India because of its beauty. During the Hindu and Buddhist era Sharada Peeth was once most international and standard institution. After the river Neelum which is very famous and popular for its crystal bluish water and that is the basic reason for its name (Neelum).There is some traditional who say that the Neelam Valley is named after precious stone sapphire (neelum).
For Neelam Valley there are two entrances one is Kaghan the Julkhad road and the other is Neelam Road by Muzaffarabad. Neelam Valley generally starts after Muzaffarabad but the area from Muzaffarabd to Chelhana in political division and in election division is named a Kotla Valley. From Chelhana district Neelam stars and it goes to another place name Taobutt.
To access this precious place suggestive station is Islamabad you can take flights to Islamabad from all over the country and direct flights to Islamabad from all over the world after that you can continue your travel through roads in public or private transportation.
